About the Author
Mitch Albom was born in 1958 in Queens, New York. His father, Bob, was a jazz musician, and his mother, Jane, was a schoolteacher. When he was seven years old, his family moved to the suburbs of Philadelphia.
He lives with his wife, Janine, in Michigan. Tuesdays with Morrie is his first non-fiction book. Albom attended Brandeis University, where he studied sociology and communications. After graduation, he worked for a short time as a case worker for the Massachusetts Department of Social Services.
In 1980, he landed a job as a sports writer for The Booston Globe. Within a few years, he was promoted to sports columnist, and his column soon became one of the most popular in the country.
