Chris Perez is a Grammy-winning musician and the widower of Selena Quintanilla. He is the author of To Selena, with love. He was born in San Antonio, Texas. At the age of eight, he began playing the trumpet.
He later switched to guitar and joined his first band, Los Dinos, in 1987. In 1992, he met Selena and they were married two years later. To Selena, with love is his first book.
Chris Perez’s To Selena, with love, is the New York Times bestselling story of his and Selena’s forbidden love and their aftermath.
Chris Perez and Selena Quintanilla were married on April 2, 1992, in a private civil ceremony at the Astrodome in Houston, Texas. The couple had originally planned to wed in Mexico but decided to move the ceremony to Houston after Mexican newspapers published their wedding plans.
The marriage was Selena’s first and Perez’s second; he had been married previously to former bandmate Suzette Quintanilla. On March 31, 1995, Selena was shot and killed by Yolanda Saldívar, her former friend.
