Summary of Thirteen Reasons Why

The story tells the tale of Hannah Baker, a high school girl who commits suicide. Thirteen people are responsible for her death, according to Hannah, and she tells their stories through a series of cassette tapes that she leaves behind.

The first person on the tapes is Justin Foley, Hannah’s first kiss. He was also the one who spread rumors about her, which led to her being nicknamed “Slut” by the student body. The second person is Alex Standall, a close friend of Justin’s.

He was dating Jessica Davis at the time, and he began an affair with Hannah that left her feeling used and betrayed. The third person is Jessica Davis, Justin’s girlfriend, and Alex’s affair partner. She was one of the first people to call Hannah a slut. In the end, Hannah’s story is one of tragedy, but also of hope.
