Carlos Ruiz Zafón (born September 25, 1964) is a Spanish novelist. His novels include The Prince of Mist, The Angel’s Game, and The Shadow of the Wind. The Shadow of the Wind was an international bestseller and has been translated into more than forty languages.
Zafón was born in Barcelona. His father, Ricardo Ruiz, was a businessman, and his mother, Carmen Zafón, was a homemaker. When he was eight years old, his family moved to Los Angeles, California. The family returned to Barcelona when he was fifteen.
Zafón studied Information Sciences at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and worked in publishing and advertising before becoming a full-time writer.
