About the Author

Norton Juster is an American architect and writer, best known for the picture book The Phantom Tollbooth (1961). He has also written several novels for children and adults, including The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics (1965), which was adapted into an Oscar-winning animated short film.

Juster was born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 2, 1929. He studied architecture at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). After working as an architect for several years, he began writing full-time.
