Summary of The Notebook 

The story revolves around Noah Calhoun, a poor but ambitious Southerner who falls in love with a rich and sophisticated woman named Allie Nelson. The two share an intense romance but are forced apart due to their different social statuses and the onset of World War II.

Years later, they unexpectedly reunite while Noah is restoring a historic home he purchased with the intention of making it Allie’s dream house. The Notebook pdf is a romantic drama that follows the ups and downs of their tumultuous relationship as they struggle to keep their love alive despite the pressures of society, family, and war.

About the Author

Nicholas Sparks is an American novelist, screenwriter, and producer. He was born on December 31, 1965, in Omaha, Nebraska to Patrick Michael Sparks, a professor of business, and Jill Emma Marie Sparks (née Thoene), a homemaker and an optometrist’s assistant.

The family relocated often due to his father’s career opportunities until finally settled in Fair Oaks, California when he was 8 years old. The experience of relocating so often had a great impact on Sparks’ writings and the experiences he puts into his stories.

The Notebook

He graduated from Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California in 1984 and went on to attend college at Notre Dame. After graduating with a degree in Business Finance, Sparks worked as a book salesman and a real estate appraiser.

In 1989, he married Cathy Cote, whom he had met while working at The College Board as a counselor for incoming students. The couple has five children together and Sparks currently resides with his family in North Carolina.
