About the Author

Oliver Sacks was a British neurologist, writer, and historian of medicine. He was the author of more than twenty books, including The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat (1985) and Awakenings (1973), which was adapted into an Academy Award-nominated film starring Robert De Niro and Robin Williams.

The author was born in London, England, on July 9, 1933. He studied at The Queen’s College, Oxford, and St. Thomas’s Hospital Medical School. He later moved to the United States, where he completed his residency at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco and fellowship at UCLA Medical Center.
