About the Author
Scott Lynch was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1978. He has been a writer since he was young and credits his parents for encouraging him to pursue creativity.
He attended college at Macalester College in Saint Paul where he studied Creative Writing and English Literature, getting his degree in 2000. After college, he lived in Belgium for a year and then moved to Seattle, Washington where he began writing The Lies of Locke Lamora in 2002.
He sold the book after three years and it was published in 2006 by Bantam books, who also published his second novel Red Seas Under Red Skies. His third novel The Republic of Thieves was released in 2013.
Scott Lynch is currently married to his wife, Jenny. He identifies as being “sexually fluid” and in 2014, he came out publicly as queer. He suffers from anxiety and depression but uses the writing process as a form of therapy, which he says helps him cope with these issues.
