About the Author
William Walker Atkinson was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on December 5th, 1862. He was a lawyer and served in the US Military during the Spanish-American War. Atkinson married Margaret Foster Black of Towson, Maryland on November 6th, 1889.
The couple had two children together but divorced after only five years of marriage. Atkinson was an avid reader and had a self-taught background in many different fields.
He took the opportunity to study Theosophy, Yogi philosophies, and Eastern religious traditions, which later became the foundation for The Kybalion pdf.
Atkinson’s early career was focused on publishing and writing. He wrote and edited a number of books, articles, and pamphlets related to Theosophy, mysticism, occult studies, metaphysics, and psychology.
He was also known for his pseudonymous works under various pen names including Ramacharaka. William Walker Atkinson died on November 22, 1932, in Los Angeles at the age of 70.
