Summary of The Goldfinch 

The novel starts with the story of Theodore Decker, a 13-year-old boy who survives a terrorist bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The bombing kills his mother and leaves him with an old Dutch painting, The Goldfinch.

The book follows Theodore as he navigates the aftermath of this tragedy while dealing with poverty and homelessness, criminal activity, drug abuse, mental health issues, and the loss of his mother.
