About the Author

Mario Puzo was an American author, screenwriter, and journalist. He is famous for his novels The Godfather and The Sicilian, both of which were adapted into films. His other works include The Fortunate Pilgrim, The Last Don, and The Fourth K.

Puzo was born in New York City in 1920 to a poor family of Italian immigrants. He dropped out of high school and joined the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he attended New York University on the G.I. Bill and wrote his first novel, The Dark Arena.
