About the Author
William Strunk Jr was an English professor at Cornell University and the author of The Elements of Style, which is a style guide for writers.
He was an American writer and the author of Charlotte’s Web. He also edited The Elements of Style after Strunk’s death. William Strunk Jr was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 1, 1869. He attended Yale University and graduated in 1892. After graduation, he worked as a reporter for The New York Times.
In 1898, he enlisted in the US Army and served in the Spanish-American War. After the war, he returned to Cornell University and earned his Ph.D. in Germanic languages. The author takes interest in writing since his childhood.
He joined the faculty of Cornell University in 1901 and taught there until his death in 1946. The Elements of Style was first published in 1918 and has been revised and republished several times since then.
