Summary of The Duke and I

About the Author

Julia Quinn started writing her first novel while waiting tables at The Ritz in London. Her break came when Barbara Taylor Bradford bought her second book, The Duke and I, for a record-setting sum. The Duke and I were the first of The Bridgerton series, which went on to become a bestseller.

Julia Quinn was born on February 20, 1970, in London, England. She is the youngest of three children and the only daughter. Her father was a successful barrister and her mother was a stay-at-home mom.

Quinn was complete her early education at The Putney School, a private boarding school in Vermont, USA. She then attended Harvard University, where she earned a degree in History and Literature.

Julia Quinn died on February 20, 2020, at the age of 50. The cause of death was not immediately known. Quinn is survived by her husband, Brendan Phelan, and their three children.
