About the Author
Dr. Bruce Perry is the Chief Science Officer of the Child Trauma Academy and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University.
He is the author of this classic novel, which recounts his experiences working with the boy referred to as John. Dr. Perry was the youngest of eight children and moreover, grew up in the small town of Cold Springs, Texas.
He attended the University of Texas at Austin and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology before going on to earn his Ph.D. in Human Development and Psychology from the University of Chicago. His career has focused on helping children who have experienced the effects of neglect and trauma.
