Summary of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

The novel tells the story of a young boy named Bruno, the son of a Nazi commandant, who lives near Auschwitz, a concentration camp during World War II. Bruno forms an unlikely friendship with a Jewish boy named Shmuel, who lives on the other side of a fence in the camp.

John Boyne is an Irish novelist and children’s book author. He was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1971 and began his career as a novelist in 2000 with the publication of “The Thief of Time”. He is best known for his 2006 novel “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas”.
