Jerry Spinelli is an American writer of children’s literature. He is famous for his young adult novels, Stargirl and Maniac Magee. He has won several awards for his work, including the Newbery Medal and the Pennsylvania Young Readers’ Choice Award.
Spinelli was born in 1941 in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He attended college at Gettysburg College and then went on to earn a Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
