About the Author

Phil Knight is an American businessman and the chairman emeritus of Nike, Inc. He is also the author of Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike. Phil Knight was born in Portland, Oregon, on February 24, 1938. His father, Bill Knight, was a lawyer, and his mother, Lota Knight, was a stay-at-home mom.

Knight attended public schools in Portland, and he graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in journalism in 1959. After college, Knight enlisted in the Army and served for a year in Germany.
