Summary of Ruin and Rising 

The story follows Alina Starkov, a young soldier from Ravka who discovers she is Grisha, a person with powers in the magical kingdom. Along with her former childhood friend and love interest, Mal, Alina must navigate dangerous political intrigue and harness her newfound abilities to defeat the Darkling, a powerful Grisha intent on using his own powers for evil.
