About the Author

Emma Donoghue is an author, playwright, and literary historian from Dublin, Ireland. She is best known for Room pdf, her 2010 novel which was adapted into a critically acclaimed feature film in 2015.

Donoghue has published eight novels and numerous plays and short stories. Her works have been translated into numerous languages. Donoghue was born in Dublin, Ireland, and grew up as an only child. She attended Catholic school for her primary and secondary education.


Donoghue went on to earn a B. A from University College Dublin and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge. She also holds a Ph.D. from the University College London.
