Summary of Oathbringer

The main story is about Dalinar Kholin and the events that occurred after the end of The Stormlight Archive. Oathbringer picks up shortly after the climax of Words of Radiance, with Dalinar grappling with his newfound role as the Blackthorn and high prince of Alethkar.

His armies are shattered, his allies are few, and enemies surround him on all sides. Nevertheless, Dalinar is resolved to rebuild Alethkar and stop the Everstorm before it destroys Roshar entirely.

Dalinar’s efforts are complicated by his growing paranoia regarding the Voidbringers, ancient enemies of humanity who may be returning to Roshar after centuries in hiding. Meanwhile, Shallan Davar continues her studies under Jasnah Kholin, learning both to use her new-found powers as a Lightweaver and to understand the complexities of political maneuvering.
