About the Author
Thomas J. Stanley was an American marketing researcher and author. He was best known for his book Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America’s Wealthy, co-authored with William Danko.
Stanley was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He then earned an MBA from the University of Georgia.
After working as a management consultant, Stanley became a professor of marketing at Clemson University. Thomas J. Stanley married Ozelle Stanley in 1960. They had three children together. Ozelle Stanley died in 2013. Thomas J. Stanley died in 2015 at the age of 71.
William D. Danko is an American marketing professor and author, known for his work on the Millionaire Next Door and The Millionaire Mind. Danko was born in Amsterdam, New York, and raised in nearby Johnstown. He graduated from the University of Albany with a bachelor’s degree.
