Colleen Hoover was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 11, 1980. She grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. Hoover’s father was an abusive alcoholic and her parents divorced when she was sixteen years old. Her mother remarried and had two more children.
Hoover graduated from high school in 1999. She married her high school sweetheart, Dave when she was nineteen years old. The couple has three sons. Hoover began writing in 2006 and she self-published her first novel, Slammed, in 2012. It became a New York Times and USA Today bestseller.
Colleen Hoover is an American author of contemporary romance and young adult novels. She has also written several novellas. Hoover’s novels are generally characterized as new adult fiction, a genre that features protagonists in the 18-25 age demographic. Many of her works fall under the category of romance novels or love stories.
