About the Author
Yeonmi Park was born in 1993 in Hyesan, North Korea. In the Order to Live pdf, she recounts what it was like growing up under the oppressive rule of the Kim Jong-Il regime.
In her book, Yeonmi remembers watching a black-and-white TV with her family and attending a school where she was taught that Kim Jong Il was a god-like figure. She also details how living in constant fear of the government impacted on her life as she grew into adulthood.
Yeonmi Park studied English literature at the Pyongyang University of Science and Technology before moving to China with her mother in 2007. In 2009, after much difficulty and danger, she made it to South Korea. In 2013, Yeonmi graduated from Dongguk University in Seoul, and In Order to Live pdf was published in 2015.
In addition to In Order to Live pdf, Yeonmi Park has also written a memoir titled “The Girl with Seven Names”, as well as many articles and essays on the topics of human rights and freedom.
