About the Author

Dr. Seuss was an American writer and illustrator who is best known for his children’s books. He was born Theodor Geisel in 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. After attending Dartmouth College and Oxford University, he began a career in advertising.

His first book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, was published in 1937. Dr. Seuss went on to write such beloved classics as The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, Horton Hears a Who!, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas! He died in 1991 at the age of 87.
